There must be such a thing as Friday cars because I’ve had two of these and they’ve both been really good cars. We bought a 2011 and 2016 with the six-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 50,000 miles on it and drove it free until approximately 135,000 miles when it began having a coolant problem which was unknown fault. But for those 85,000 miles, we replaced the brakes once and the tires once. In fact, we just sold the car and I believe the tires on it are only its third set and still had life left. I believe the brakes were changed at around 95,000. That’s it. No other issues. We lived in Lake Tahoe and regularly drove to the Sacramento area through blizzards and 110° weather. Was always a great car. The second one I still have now which is a 2013 X5 with the 3 liter turbo gas engine. I purchased it four years ago with 40,000 miles on it and it now has about 95. It required a vent fixed in the AC system at around 75,000 miles and the tailgate was having issues. Shortly figured out that the battery was very low on amperage. Something with these cars that people don’t know is the batteries have to stay at tiptop shape or you will begin having problems that all stem from the fact that the battery is low. Which in my opinion is the only downfall of the car. But again, we had one for seven years and bought another one. We liked it so much. And between the two we’ve put 150,000 miles on them. I think the total cost of maintaining them and all that time was maybe $3000? I think an issue with BMWs that people don’t discuss as they offer you a much more dynamic experience than say a Toyota or a Ford. And with that comes the price of higher maintenance. If you want to buy a car that drives basic, that does the job basically… you don’t need a BMW. Nor should you get one. But if you don’t mind, making sure you check the tire pressure you keep the oil clean and you get it inspected every 10 to 15,000 miles you’ll have an amazing experience. I have owned four BMWs amongst Mercedes and Porsche’s, jeeps…. The only BMW that I had problems with was my 2003 330i. Our other BMW currently is a 2016 528 that we bought with 15,000 miles on it that now has 60. Not. One. Issue.

Best vehicle we’ve owned. Great mileage with the diesel. Very few problems overall and we’ve owned the car for over six years. Still looks great.
